About the Jewelry
Jewelry offered by The Filigree Garden is created from a combination of vintage beads and metals, recycled parts, and new materials. Each item description will indicate the composition of the piece. To be more earth-friendly, I try to limit the amount of newly-manufactured parts that I use. I am also always researching new resources for environmentally-conscious metals and findings, and I prefer to purchase American-made components. Quite often, you may find jewelry pieces here that contain old elements rescued from a broken or vintage necklace, or a pair of earrings. These elements are "mature" and so, not perfect. They may show some patina of age, but that is part of their beauty. Rest assured, however, that earrings will always have new earwires, and necklace chains will receive new clasps when needed.
I make many one-of-a-kind pieces which can't be duplicated, but I will be happy to create something special for you - just ask! Pierced earrings can be made into clips for no extra charge. If you need the length of a necklace changed, please email prior to purchase. Earwires in various metals are also available on request, to meet any allergy needs you may have.

Custom Orders
Custom orders are very welcome! Please allow a minimum of one week for your order to be filled. Each item is handmade upon request; extra time may be required to obtain special materials if they are not in stock. Custom orders require a standard 50% non-refundable deposit in advance, with the balance due prior to shipping. Photos of your completed item will be made available prior to final payment. Please email with any questions or special requests you may have.
Payment & Shipping
The Filigree Garden is able to accept PayPal, Amazon Payments, United State Postal Money Orders, and all major credit cards. Currently the online shopping option is set up to accept Amazon Payments only. Please email me if you would prefer to pay by some other method.
*All items shipping to Massachusetts will have 6.25% sales tax added to the order.*
Each item is carefully packaged in a recycled-content jewelry box inside a recycled-content, padded envelope, and is sent USPS First-Class Mail (for US shipments) or First Class Mail International (non-US shipments). I do recycle and reuse padded mailers and bubble wrap whenever possible. Priority Mail is available for an additional fee; please contact me for more information. I normally ship within two business days of receipt of payment. I will happily combine items when shipping. Shipping includes free delivery confirmation (US orders only).
Refunds and Exchanges
Customer satisfaction is important to me. If for any reason you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, please let me know within 7 days of item receipt. I will be happy to address any issues that may arise. I am sorry but pierced earrings that have been worn cannot be returned due to public health regulations.
Additional Policies and FAQs
Important Information for Buyers Living in California! As of March 1, 2009, the Filigree Garden will no longer sell or ship jewelry items to California in order to remain in compliance with the California Lead-Containing Jewelry Law that was enacted in 2008 and recently updated in 2009. (Please see http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/leadinjewelry.cfm for more about the law.) Any jewelry order received that has a California ship-to address will be canceled and payment will be promptly refunded. I apologize for this inconvenience.
Why Can't Our Jewelry Items Be Shipped to California? As of March 1, 2008, CA law requires that all jewelry, including vintage pieces, sold to California residents must be made only of certain lead-free or very low lead materials. In February 2009 this law was amended to state that all jewelry manufacturers, large or small, are required to provide written certification that their jewelry meets the requirements of this law. Some items available in The Filigree Garden's Shop contain vintage and recycled components of unspecified and unknown content. Although most of the parts used in the jewelry offered here meet strict CA standards for lead content, assessing the lead content of all vintage and recycled components is not possible without expensive and destructive testing. Since I cannot verify the lead content (or lack thereof) of vintage and recycled parts without destroying them, I am unable to sell jewelry that contains these parts in California. Unfortunately, the cost of testing and certification forces me to expand this policy to any jewelry in my shop, whether or not it contains vintage parts.
The Filigree Garden strives to use lead-free components as much as possible. All earwires are nickel and lead-free. If you have questions regarding the materials used in any of the jewelry in the shop, please contact me.
